Speaker Bio
While working as label manager at Remote Control Records (Jamie xx, FKA Twigs, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Courtney Barnett, etc), Dan Rutman founded his own record label, Solitaire Recordings, in 2014. The label was formed with aspirations to narrow the distance between Australian artists and the rest of the world, focusing primarily on helping Australian artists find a fanbase in the US. The company spans many genres and currently operates in New York, Australia and London.
Dan has earned both a Bachelor of Music (Jazz) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the Monash University in Australia and moved to the United States to start working with Sneak Attack Media (most recently acquired by The Syndicate). His love of the recorded music business began while running his own record store during university, which led him to intern for New York independent labels Sacred Bones, RVNG Intl, Kanine Records and Mexican Summer.
Dan joined TuneCore in 2020 as Director of US & Canada. He will be focused on new business and creating strategic partnerships for TuneCore across all industries.
